Offline Defect Detection System for Cast Film

Recently, a set of offline defect detection system for cast film from Hartek Technologies has been successfully shipped to Shanghai, where equipment installation and operation training have been completed. This system will be used in conjunction with Hartek Technologies’ cast film experimental line to perform surface quality re-inspection and defect analysis on polymer film samples such as PLA, PP, and PET.

Application Scenarios of Offline Defect Detection Systems for Cast Films:

  • Analysis of gel defects caused by improper thermal history in biodegradable films (such as PLA/PBAT);
  • Quantitative statistical analysis of carbonized black spots and foreign impurities in cast films made from recycled plastics (rPP, rPET);
  • Visual verification of the dispersion uniformity of highly filled systems (calcium carbonate, talc);
  • Standardized testing tools for film cleanliness in university materials laboratories for teaching and research;
  • Comparing the impact of different extrusion parameters on surface quality during the development of new formulations or processes.

Performance Characteristics:

  • Employs a combination of a high-resolution line-scan camera and a high-brightness LED light source, enabling stable identification of defects such as gel, black spots, fibers, wrinkles, and pores;
  • Supports offline detection mode, suitable for retrospective quality assessment of off-line samples, without requiring connection to the main production line;
  • Comes with dedicated detection software, featuring automatic positioning, defect classification, and image archiving functions;
  • Standardized operation process: Sample placement → Scanning start → Automatic generation of detection results, short single-test time;
  • Compact equipment structure, flexible deployment, adaptable to laboratory environments, and seamlessly integrated with existing cast film winding stations.

After equipment delivery, Harteks’ engineers completed on-site hardware installation, software debugging, and basic operation training, covering sample preparation requirements, detection parameter settings, defect identification logic, and other procedures. Currently, the cast film offline defect detection system is operating stably and has been put into daily testing use.
